K-beauty secrets for younger face

Today I am going to disclose the top 5 secrets of K-beauty that’ll help you look younger and maintain that feature.

Hi, this is Izzy, back again to give you guys a sweet piece of information about K-beauty and fashion. As you remember, last week, we talked about the secret of K-pop stars’ shining eyes. And during the post, there was a sentence that I mentioned that one of the reasons why K-pop stars look young and lively is a color contact lens. Today’s theme is a successive story of this sentence. I know that many foreign fans are curious about how K-pop or K-drama stars look so young and don’t age. So! Today I am going to disclose the top 5 secrets of K-beauty that’ll help you look younger and maintain that feature.

1. Moisturize your skin: use a facial mask

This might sound pretty obvious but you don’t know how crazy Koreans are to keep their skin moisturized. If you enter Olive Young, which is a Korean drugstore – for exact understanding, it’s a mixture of Sephora and Walgreens -, there is a section for facial mask and you would see almost fifty kinds of it having all different function: for pimples, for pore, for wrinkles… However, there is this one function that all of these facial masks have. It is the moisturizing function. And facial mask moisturizes our skin in an intensified version. Moisturizing is the most important and the most basic of K-beauty. Countless K-drama and K-pop stars mentioned using a facial mask as their skincare routine. Even myself, as a beauty guru, use a facial mask at least twice a week.

2. Natural makeup: use light and bright shades

Compared to the United States, Koreans like using bright and light shades when they do makeup. (Of course, some people do smokey makeup in Korea, but I’m talking about the major) Most people don’t favor applying dark shades on their eyes and apply bright brown or light coral shade which is barely noticeable. Also, in the states, MLBB (a.k.a My Lip But Better) shades are popular. In contrast, as I mentioned before, Koreans love applying vivid color on their lips. This difference in makeup style has a credit on Korean celebrities looking young and lively.

3. A straight line eyebrow shape

Now, this would be the thing you weren’t expecting, but it’s pretty crucial: the shape of your eyebrow. If you see some pictures of Korean celebrities, you would easily find out that they all have a straight line eyebrow shape. The exact shape differentiates person by person, such as pure straight line, straight line with arch, but it is the most popular eyebrow shape in Korea. This straight-line shape gives a pure, innocent, and young vibe to a person.

4. Highlight your under-eye flesh

This is also the most common makeup detail Koreans use, and this helps you look lively. There are two ways to emphasize your under-eye flesh. First, you can use a highlight stick or a highlighting powder and apply it under your eyes. Or, you can use a deep brown colored pencil eyeliner and draw a light line on about the point where your under-eye flesh gets folded. If you google ‘애교살(means under-eye flesh in Korean) before and after’, you can see the pictures.

5. Wear the color contact lens

The final tip is wearing a color contact lens. The essence of a color lens is to help your eyes look bigger, and it makes this possible by giving a clear boundary between the pupil and the white part of our eyes. The color of the lens helps our pupil look much bigger and more vividly. If you match your natural eye color and the lens color, you’ll look both natural and young.

K-POP star: secrets of their shining eyes

How do K-Pop stars eyes shine like a movie character all the time? The answer is COLOR LENS. K-POP stars often wear color contact lenses to match their concept.

Hi, this is Izzy, your K-beauty and fashion curator. This week, we’ll have a special theme. Even though I am introduced as a fashion/beauty curator in this blog, I’m not only close to K-beauty and K-fashion, but also K-culture, especially K-POP! Thus, today, I’ll give you guys a guideline that would make all of you guys fall into K-POP. Plus, even if you already think you’re a K-POP expert, why don’t you hear a piece of information and opinion from the local one? Now, let’s start with the very start of K-POP history.

[The Pioneers of K-POP, 1990s-2000s: H.O.T/S.E.S/Fin.K.L/SECHSKIES]

While Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, and Spice Girls were shaking the whole North America continent, H.O.T, S.E.S, Fin.K.L, and SECHSKIES were doing the same role in South Korea. Every member of the group was well known by their name and had a huge ‘fandom’ following them for day and night. Their fashion, their make-up, their snacks, literally everything they do became the trend.

[The Globalization of K-POP: BoA, TVXQ, Wonder Girls]

After the first generation, various k-pop artists were newly launched and their young fans always sent them huge love and support. Since the groups (or solo artists) reached to extraordinary success in the short term, the agencies started to look forward to the global success of K-POP. And the first global stage they’ve selected was Japan. BoA and TVXQ cut the start line and received lots of love from the Japanese. Meanwhile, Wonder Girls was getting ready for their debut in the states. Since South Korea and the United States had such a long distance, people never thought of the idea, but Wonder Girls ventured the idea and implemented their plan. Unlike the success in Japan, it wasn’t a huge success (such as having a concert on the biggest stage in the country), but they became the first Asian artist who entered Billboard Hot 100 chart. (They entered as the 76th place) Eventually, by this process of solidifying the foundation of global K-POP, 2NE1, SHINEE, 2 PM, and furthermore BTS, MONSTA-X, TWICE, BLACKPINK could relatively easily get accepted by global citizens.

[The Rise of K-POP in the U.S.: BTS, MONSTA-X, BLACKPINK, TWICE]

Now, in this era, there would be some experts among our subscribers. Based on the senior K-POP group’s effort, U.S. pop listeners started to recognize the charm of K-POP. Emma Stone once mentioned K-POP in the TBS Conan show, as a ‘beyond excellent’ thing in 2015, and starting from this occasion, the interest in K-POP boosted up. Some Americans started to notice famous K-POP artists such as 2NE1 and English comments in K-POP youtube channels started to be easily found. And the seemingly slowly growing interests after the occasion boosted up once again. Yes, it was them: BTS. Based on their profound theme ‘Love yourself’, they released a unique song with story-telling lyrics and performed it with an intense dance performance. This fascinated U.S. pop listeners and BTS winning the 8th place on the Billboard Hot 100 chart proved the popularity. Plus after their success, Monsta-X, Blackpink, Twice also gained lots of attention and had concerts in the states. Unlike 2015, now, K-POP is not an unfamiliar genre which is only mentioned by a single celebrity. It is now a real trend that various celebrities mention in a talk show with no doubt that everybody will understand what they are talking about. Finally and thankfully, K-POP became a broadly loved genre.

[K-POP star: secrets of their shining eyes]

Before we end this discussion, we cannot skip the beauty and fashion part since I am a K-beauty and K-fashion curator. So! Watching K-POP stars’ performance videos or music videos, you would have once thought, how do they look so different in every performance? Or how do their eyes shine like a movie character all the time? And the answer is COLOR LENS. K-POP stars often wear color contact lenses to match their concept. When they have to perform a song that has a fancy concept, they dye their hair in unique colors such as pink, blue, grey, and wear color lenses that match their hair color. The lens helps the stars look younger and more attractive.

TGIF! See what Korean college girls do on FRIDAY

What do Korean college girls do on Fridays? If you’re curious, check this out. Rich information of K-beauty, K-fashion, K-culture is waiting for you. See what kind of lens, makeup, and clothes they wear.

Hi, this is Izzy, who from now on will give you sweet pieces of information about K-beauty and fashion. Since I’m a college girl and thank god it’s FINALLY Friday, for this week, I decided to post about typical Fridays of Korean college girls. So! If you want some useful tips to become a K-culture insider, you’d better listen up. The greatest teacher’s lecture is waiting for you below. (Yes, that greatest is me)

9:00 A.M. “HFM!”

Happy Friday Morning! Definitely the happiest morning among the weekdays. Even it’s still a weekday, it’s just one day before weekEND and twelve hours before NIGHT OUT. Bounce up from bed, go straight to the bathroom, and take a shower playing some K-pop dance music like ‘Boy With Luv’ (BTS), ‘Dance The Night Away’ (TWICE), ‘ICY’ (ITZY). I could say it’s a tiny little ceremony to Gear up for the party night. After done taking a shower, I let the music go on and sit in front of my mirror, do some basic daily care routine. Softly smudge the toner liquid into my skin, and apply a moisturizing cream.

Since Korean skincare routine is popular worldwide, you guys would be curious about what product I use. So here are the answers. I use ‘Derma Water Ceramide Toner’ and  ‘Derma Water Ceramide Gel Cream’, which is both from Botanic Heal. (shortly called ‘BoH’) It is a typical Korean facial care product that has a soft and smooth texture. These are my current favorites. Of course, these are not it, but since today’s post is for Friday routine, let’s move on. (If you want K-beauty information, please subscribe to our channel. There are tons of upcoming K-beauty postings.) After skincare, quickly apply a lip balm and pack the essential for my one and only Friday. For instance, a short skirt, a bunch of makeup tools, jewelry, an eyedrop, and definitely a COLOR CONTACT LENS. The color lens is a common item among Korean girls, and I personally like it because it gives a special vibe and let my eye look much shinier. Considering these reasons, it’s natural to wear coolor contact lenses for Friday night. Finally, if I’m done packing, I grab my glasses and rush to the bus station.

4:00 P.M. “READY FOR THE NIGHT?”

Until 4, there are some classes to attend and between those, there is lunchtime, but nothing special happens. Then why not skip to the fun part? The fun starts at 4. Every class is over, so basically the week is over. I grab my bag and go to the bathroom and take a seat in front of a wide mirror. First of all, I change my outfit from a comfortable student outfit to a date night outfit. Since it’s September, a cropped long sleeve top with short jeans or skirts are the most liked go-to outfit for Korean college girls. Next, I take out my makeup tools and start my work. Apply some glittery shadows which will shine below the club lighting and pick a shiny red lipstick for a fancy look. (*K-beauty hint: Koreans generally love light shades for shadow and bright shades for lipsticks. Of course, it depends on the person but the majority does their makeup this way) Then after some more general steps such as shading and highlighting, I wash my hands and finally do my last step: COLOR CONTACT LENS. I put some eye drops in my eyes and carefully wear them. Since it is Friday, and I want showy colors on my eye, I’ll choose a grey lens. The grey color makes the look more sexy and polished. When I’m done wearing the lens, I put unnecessary stuff that’ll bother my look in my locker and FINALLY call my friend.

Ready to start my Friday night

7:00 P.M. “MEET THE NIGHT!”

7:00 P.M. Now it is officially Friday night. Korean college girls meet their friends or their hot date at the most popular night out places in Seoul. (*K-culture hint: For a night out lovers, I would recommend clubs and bars around ‘Hong-Ik University station’ or ‘Gangnam Station’) And FINALLY! The party night starts with a happy chat in front of a delicious dinner. And after that? There is nothing that is fixed. We just have fun until the sun for the next day rises because every bar and every club is opened until morning.

So now, are you more interested in Korea? Please leave a comment if you have any other curiosity about K-beauty/fashion and culture. Then, I’ll come back with a more interesting topic next week. SEE YA!
