Boutique shops in downtown Seoul rent out early 1940’s style clothes to customers. If you look up “#경성스타일” hashtag (which means old Seoul style on Instagram), you could see various boutique clothes.

They also started enjoying a film camera. As you know, most smartphones can take as much quality pictures as a high-end digital camera. However, the younger generation started using a film camera instead. From a disposable film camera to an SLR, compact film camera, film photography in combination with retro clothes became very popular.

If you like to shoot photos, you might already hear about “VSCO” mobile app. This app became more popular because it provides various film software filters. Essentially, you take a photo with your mobile phone, then using VSCO app, you could turn existing photos into film look and feel photos. (If you’re interested, look up “#vscofilm” on Instagram.)

Evidently, the younger generation couldn’t be happy with digital conversion. They wanted to experience a real deal which happens to be an actual film camera.

Hot and humid summer is finally over (or at least soon it will be.) From the beginning of August, clothing stores began to present fall collections. If you’re still catching up with fashion trends, here is the summary of 2019 fall and winter fashion trends in K-Beauty market. Even though this summary is based on the K-Beauty market, its base is also from the global trends, therefore, you might say this summary is global 2019 fall and winter fashion guidelines.

1.Newtro style

First off, you will hear a lot about “Newtro” in 2019 FW fashion trends. What is “Newtro”? It means “new” plus “retro”. Even young generations who have not been born in the 1980s have a big interest in retro fashion. In other words, fashion trends from the ’80s or ’90s. The main difference is that they not only pursue old style but make it look more like modern.

As an example, if you wear old-style outerwear, you will mix it with modern clothes. Or you could simply use modern accessories such as jewelry or watches along with old-style clothes.

2.Romantic style

In the Seoul fashion week 2019 (at DDP), a lot of Korean designers introduced romantic style clothes. Large lace, ribbon, frills or ruffled clothes were quite popular. In some cases, they use huge ribbon or ruffle on a dress.

3. Animal print

Animal print is going to be very popular this season. Note that they are not animal skin-based clothes. They are clothes with animal print.

I am also a big fan of checkered pattern clothes. Luckily this is going to be a popular fashion trend this fall. The checkered pattern makes a classic look and feel. So this means a classical design is back in business.

Check out this magazine from Allure Korea edition, it picks popular topics targeted for the K-Beauty market. The editor picked a checkered pattern as a hot fashion keyword this season.

5. Minimalism

Minimalism became a very popular lifestyle in S. Korea. But evidently, it became a hot keyword in fashion trends. All back tops and bottoms or grey, beige color style is going to be popular. In other words, unlike a colorful look, a monochrome look will be fashion trends this fall.

6. All leather clothes

Both tops and bottoms, all leather clothes will be popular.

Introduction on K-Beauty and Fashion category stories. We are a color contacts lens company but we’d like to talk about fashion and K-Beauty with various lenses.

Hello everyone. My name is Allan. I am a blog editor. Welcome to visit our official blog. (We are Aperture.) As a colored contact lens company, we are going to talk a lot about the lens itself but on top of lens stories, we’d also like to talk about fashion and K-beauty. What do you think is the reason behind putting on colored contact lenses? It’s basically a “fashion style”. You want to look different in your own style. With this being said, it makes sense to talk about fashion and style when it comes to colored contact lenses.

What kind of magazines do you like? Personally, I am a big fan of Kinfolk magazine. First of all, the magazine cover design is always stylish. I also like its minimal design look. It’s no surprise that Kinfolk covers stories about fashion and minimal lifestyles.

When I first found Kinfolk magazine at a local bookstore, I was drawn to its simple yet elegant cover design. As an Apple fanatic myself, I also felt the style of the magazine resembles Apple culture. Of course, I like its content as well. The content of the magazine is to the point as well as interesting enough to expect the next episode.

The reason I brought this topic up is that I’d like to keep our blog style similar to Kinfolk magazine. I will try to cover minimal yet stylish topics.

K-Beauty

Who would’ve thought “K-Pop and K-Beauty” became so popular throughout the world? When I was young(the eighties and nineties), a pop star from U.S.A visiting S. Korea was a big event. Major television channels broadcasted live concerts nationwide whenever we had pop singers visiting Korea from other countries (especially from North Ameria).

However, at the time, any famous K-Pop star didn’t mean popularity in other countries. Time has changed. BTS K-pop singers have featured on the cover of TIME magazine. Pretty much every teenager in the U.S.A heard about BTS.

While k-pop celebrities have impeccable skin, a lot of people believed that the secret lies in Korean cosmetics. There is a show “Welcome, First time in Korea” where foreigners visit S. I was surprised by the fact that pretty much all young girls from North America wanted to try Korean cosmetics.

I will mix these two topics, in other words, colored contact lenses in combination with K-Beauty and Fashion stories. There will be stories about young Korean girls concerning their fashion choices and the reasons behind it.
